Hello, and welcome back to Football Manager Ambition!
Today, I'll be giving you an update on the FM Ambition save, in our usual Progress Report and a quick Football Manager Problem. But first, as always, here's one of our...
GREAT FOOTBALL MANAGER QUOTES
FOOTBALL MANAGER PROBLEMS
Have any of you noticed something odd happen to your FM18 save overnight?
I've had two saves on FM18. One was a save in which I left SWFC early on to take over at Man U. I didn't enjoy the save, and didn't do much with it, but it stayed there on my list of saved games. The other one was my FM Ambition save with SWFC.
Last night, I played a match against Man City, beating them 3-0 with a hat-trick from Joe Holt. I posted some goal action photos on Instagram (fm_ambition). After the match, I saved the game, and then shut down my mac in order to spend some sofa time with the wife. (We were watching BBC's Bodyguard on iPlayer. If you haven't seen it, I can recommend it. Absolutely gripping. But I digress.)
Anyway, I opened FM18 this morning, intending to crank out another match while eating my toast (Warburtons, if you need to know). And I noticed a FM19 banner had appeared on the start screen:
Then I also noticed that my Man U save, which I haven't touched in months, was showing as my last game played! Very odd! Not to worry, I navigated to my SWFC / FM Ambition save, and loaded it up. Aaaand it showed my next game was against Man City! My 3-0 win had disappeared! What is going on SI? Has this happened to anyone else? I had to play the matcvh again, coming away with a scrappy 1-0 win, and an injury to Holt!
I was hoping that by the time I got around to writing this blog, I would have achieved the ambition of having so many England internationals in my SWFC team, that England manager Sean Dyche would have only SWFC players in the England squad. Sadly, I have been thwarted again! Chelsea's 33-year-old Marcus Rashford continues to retain his England place, and two Man U youngsters have made it into the squad, even though they're not that good. But most galling is the central midfielder I sold to Southampton - Bradley Harrison - has made it into the England squad! I tried to buy him back, and also tried to buy the two Man U players, but failed on all counts. The January 2031 transfer window has now closed, and England don't have another match until March, so hopefully then, Dyche will have picked an exclusively SWFC-based team. We'll see.
The January window came and went, without me buying a single player! The first time this has happened on the current save, I believe.
So at present, the England squad looks like this:
Results have looked like this:
A very satisfying victory indeed!
Like I said, only a quick update today. Hopefully, I'll see you on Instagram (fm_ambition), where I'll keep posting pictures from matches, along with the occasional daft meme. I'll post another blog here when I get to the end of the season, by which time we should have more news on FM19. Thanks for stopping by, and may your game never crash unsaved!
