Losing Weight - Part 3
So I’m now at 235lbs which is not where I want to be, but I’m still making progress even if in very small steps.
I’ve said it before but the problem for me is not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of motivation and the fact that I am in physical pain a lot of the time. Whether it’s waking up feeling as though my head will explode (about a third of all mornings) or my surgically repaired shoulder hurting or one of my other various health issues, my good intentions are often derailed before I can even start.
All that being said, I actually made it to the gym yesterday morning. My session was fairly simple but a good starting point. The main thing for me is that I actually made it to the gym. This is what I did:
15 minutes on the upright bike.
10 minutes walk/run on the treadmill.
Machine Bench Press
Seated Cable Rows
I have to be careful what I do for resistance training as my left shoulder can react pretty badly to the wrong movement.
I really struggle with my diet as well. Again, it’s not a lack of knowledge. I could talk for hours about diet and nutrition and speak from a position of knowledge and authority. However, my issue is that I eat when I’m bored and the sad truth is that life bores me a huge amount of the time. Part of the reason I created NowWeLive is out of that boredom. I wanted to create something that was interesting and fun.
I bought some electronic scales the other day as I wanted to measure body fat and lean mass a little more accurately. In predictable fashion the scales don’t work and I’m having to return them but the point I’m getting to is that body weight on its own as a measure is not the be all and end all. For now, knowing I am a good 30 kilos overweight, I think I can get by just by concentrating on lowering my overall body weight.
The target for next Sunday; 232lbs.
